This MLK Day, in partnership with Partners for a Racism-Free Community (PRFC) and the W. MI AmeriCorps Collaborative, Celebration! Cinema will feature the movie DOPE as a precursor to a larger conversation on how racism and stereotypes impact the experiences of young people navigating issues of equity present day. PRFC will facilitate a post- movie discussion on the themes and experiences of young people in Greater Grand Rapids grappling with issues of race and equity, particularly as it relates to perception of self and upward mobility.
About the Movie: DOPE is a coming of age film centered on the experience of Malcolm, a student applying for admission to Harvard. Rated R.
