Position Description
OVERVIEW & PURPOSE
The Marketing & Communications Chair is responsible primarily for the digital communication of all WMAC happenings through advertising, social media, event documentation, website upkeep and newsletter overseeing.

The Marketing & Communications Chair is responsible primarily for the digital communication of all WMAC happenings through advertising, social media, event documentation, website upkeep and newsletter overseeing.
SHARED DUTIES
- Attend meetings and events according to attendance policy.
- Assist in planning events and other opportunities.
- The main organizer of each event must write event description and send to board chair who will then deliver to the program directors for review.

- Contribute to the monthly newsletter.
- Remain active in Facebook group by consistently posting.
WMAC COMMUNICATIONS: It is your duty to effectively perform the following tasks and effectively communicate the status of these tasks to the board at every meeting.
- NEWSLETTER is the top priority. This is a monthly online publication submitted through a program called www.MailChimp.com. Our current email list is over 300 people and is one our main paths of communication about upcoming events. With the current board, establish a date for the newsletter that will be the same date every month. The rest of the board will be responsible for submitting one section to you one week before the newsletter goes out. Then it will be your responsibility to assemble and send the newsletter.
- At every event, make sure there is a newsletter sign-up sheet available

- EVENT ADVERTISING is the second priority. For every event, a digital poster must be created and shared in the newsletter and on facebook. An easy-to-use advertisement creator tool is www.canva.com.
- EVENT DOCUMENTATION is a part of event advertising because it is this documentation of events that encourages others to attend more events. If you cannot attend an event, it is your duty to identify another person to photograph the event, then acquire the photos.

- FACEBOOK PAGE is the third priority. Set your own schedule with a recommended 2-5 posts per week minimum. Staying current on social media will keep members informed about our events and keep service moral high.
- Keep the posts relevant to service (highlighting west michigan americorps members, national service efforts, inspiring service quotes, WMAC events)
- Stay away from any political posts. WMAC must stay neutral.

- FACEBOOK GROUP is the fourth priority. This is a forum for AmeriCorps members to talk directly to each other. If the conversations have been inactive for a while, start a new conversation. Also, if any issues arise with disagreements or politics, it is your duty to diffuse the situation. Or if you feel uncomfortable, inform and involve the board chair.
- WEBSITE is the final priority. Our website is meant to offer professional credibility to WMAC. Staying current with event photos is the minimum requirement for website upkeep. You may forward the website in anyway you see fit with an accepted proposal from the rest of the board.
